October 2022

I got sick in September and recovery was slow and ongoing, so October has come as a suprise. I’ve actually spent a lot of time off work or being looked after so have had the luxury of being able to just stitch for a fair few days. As always with these periods I gravitated towards the basic techniques, beaded stars and hand stitching.

  1. Jumper – No change
  2. Chinese landscape cross stitch – No change
  3. Large mixed media embroidery – No change
  4. Clamshell draft excluder – No change
  5. A beaded necklace – No change
  6. Beaded stars on a set of christmas lights – I made many stars
  7. Mandolin quilt – 2 Mandolins and 3 joining stars have been sewn. I’ve also basted the third of the first three sets I cut out and cut out another 3 mandolins and 2 joining stars
  8. A beaded Christmas wreath – No change

Have you spotted the finish? I finally finished my Rosemallow quilt, there will be a full post but I have to gift it first. Having finished this project, I also did some practical sewing, I added some of my fabric panels to some plain curtains I had bought to help winterise my flat. Adding the fabric adds some splashes of colour which should also help in the depths of winter. I also finished a natural dying project, and have a beautiful variegated skein of wool.

There was absolutely no pottery this month so hopefully that will change this month. I’m also planning a couple of quick projects but we’ll see what happens. I should probably start thinking of any christmas activities but again, I’m not pressuring myself about it.
